 Storytelling

Niigaani-gichigami Water Festival embraces sharing, praying, and collaborating to embody gratitude for Niigaani-Gichigami/Lake Ontario.

Niigaani-gichigami, which means "Leading Sea" is the Anishinaabe name for Lake Ontario. Join us throughout the spring to celebrate, pray for, and learn about Niigaani-gichigami. We have organized different events including a water walk, art displays, storytelling, youth programs and community events.

It is the responsibility of all Nations to help protect one of Toronto's most sacred gifts-the water. Organized by the Niigaani-gichigami Water Collective, Saint James Cathedral, and Toronto Urban Native Ministry.
