The John Howard Society is a Canadian non-profit organization that seeks to develop understanding and effective responses to the problem of crime and prison reform. It is named after John Howard, a philanthropist and early English prison reformer.
Our Institutional team provide services to men incarcerated at the Metro East Detention and Toronto South Detention Centre. These services include: pre-release information and support and relapse prevention counselling. Our Aboriginal team deliver the NILO Program where Traditional Circles and services are provided. To access this service individuals are required to put in a request through a Correctional Officer to see a John Howard Society representative.
We are pleased to advise of the opening the Reintegration Centre directly across from the Toronto South Detention Centre to provide services to men immediately upon release.
